Infectious Diseases in Europe: HIV and TB
Responsible:
Henrique Barros; Jeffrey Lazarus
Description
The annual infectious disease seminar at the University of Porto will focus on HIV and TB. Leading Portuguese scholars together with experts from across Europe and the US will present the latest issues regarding these two infectious diseases and related issues. Epidemiology, research methodology, health policy and current research will be presented in a series of interactive sessions from 9.00 to 17.00 each day at the Institute of Public Health, Porto, culminating in the first Douro Infectious Diseases Keynote Lecture. Join us for one day or the entire week as we debate, discuss and uncover why two preventable and treatable infections continue to be major public health issues in Europe, despite national and regional interventions and policies to prevent, treat and eventually eliminate them.Previous lecturers have joined their colleagues at the University of Porto from the Centro Nacional de Epidemiologia (Spain), EMCDDA, the Global Fund, UNAIDS, University of Antwerp and WHO Europe.
