Description

The Structural Equation Model, known as SEM, from English Structural Equation Modeling, are considered a generalized modeling technique used to test the validity of theoretical models in which multiple and hypothetical linear relationships between variables are defined.

 

This is a method of statistical analysis that combines multiple regression aspects with factorial analysis to estimate both a series of interrelated dependence relationships. It is a methodology that empirically tests a set of dependency relationships based on a theory defined a priori by the researcher, one of the features that distinguishes it from other multivariate analysis. It is a transition from an exploratory analysis into a confirmatory perspective.

 

These models have proven useful in the theoretical development of several areas in need of measurement and study of relationships between complex phenomena and requiring the analysis of multiple simultaneous relationships.

  • General objectives of the course

Definition of concepts, basic and fundamental notions of Structural Equation Models;

Acquiring skills in the development and implementation of Structural Equation Models.

 

  • Target students and prerequisites

Students and researchers familiar with correlation and linear regression analysis, hypothesis testing and confirmatory factor analysis.

 

  • Programmatic content
  1. Fundamental notions of Structural Equation Models;
  2. Measure model: Confirmatory Factor Analysis;
  3. Complete Structural Equations Models with Mediation Effects.

Use of the AMOS software
