Systematic reviews are becoming more frequent in the scientific literature, which contributes to an increase in the transparency and quality of literature reviews.
This course will cover methodological aspects of systematic reviews, namely: identification of potentially eligible studies in different sources and efficient management of the searches; assessment of the quality of the studies; data extraction from the original reports; different strategies for data synthesis. We will also present the scientific basis for quantitative synthesis of the results by meta-analysis.
The course is intended to participants with previous training in epidemiology and biostatistics.
At the end of the course the participants should be able to perform a critical appraisal of systematic reviews, and to design research projects based on these methodologies.
The maximum number of participants will be 15; selection will be based on the evaluation of the applicants’ curriculum vitae.
