The Department of Biostatistics mission is to contribute to research in Public Health through the development, implementation and dissemination of mathematical and statistical methods of analysis. This goal is translated into two main areas:
- The application of existing mathematical models and statistical methods to public health research, in particular, through collaborative studies;
The development of new methods of statistical analysis to answer questions that may arise with new study designs, data sources, methods of data collection and new areas in the field of Public Health.
Furthermore, the Department's activity includes teaching in the field of biostatistics (introductory and advanced statistics courses) and consultancy for ISPUP researchers on study design, data management and statistical analysis.
