Message of the Chair

Ultimately, Biostatistics is also at the core of Public Health, since without reliable data and appropriate analysis there is no rigorous interpretation of the results. Biostatistics is an inherently interdisciplinary scientific area, well suited to providing answers to the different research challenges in Public Health, in what respects to data analysis in research studies and in planning and evaluating health programmes. The Department aims the development, implementation and dissemination of sound mathematical and statistical methods of analysis in Public Health. Thus, Biostatistics is a constant defiant area that evolves from the challenges that new Public Health approaches raise.
