Message of the Chair
Nutrition and lifestyles-related health determinants are recognized as major contributors for chronic diseases, namely obesity. These behavioural determinants of health are certainly interrelated with cultural, social and economic aspects that should be assessed and considered when planning health. Health promotion demands evidence-based integrated actions, in order to achieve effective modification of risk behaviours.
Our mission is to produce new knowledge on the assessment of these determinants, on their establishment or changes during life and how they influence health, in particular the dynamics of obesity and other metabolic disorders. We aim to provide expertise and evidence to support national food and nutrition policies and obesity prevention programmes, in order to improve population health.
