João de Almeida Pedro
João de Almeida Pedro was born in Sintra. in 1978. He has a bachelor in pharmacy, a master in Science Education and currently he is a 3rd year PhD student of Public Health, focusing is research work in Non-Communicable Diseases (Cardiovascular risk factors in Angola), linking this results with the previous work on Neglected Tropical Diseases, highlighting the epidemiological transition period that developing countries faces and the paradigm shift that Health Systems must suffer.
He is currently also a Senior Project Manager in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, focusing is scope of work in Health, Higher Education and Research projects management in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the organization, he worked in the public health sector for 4 years before we started is academic career in the Lisbon School of Health Technology where he was a professor for 10 years.
