Elisabete Alves completed a PhD in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (2012) and a MSc in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (2005). She is currently a post-doctoral researcher within the project "Parental roles and knowledge in Neonatal Intensive Care Units" (PTDC/CS-ECS/120750/2010). She is member of the Department of Health and Society of the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP), and conducts her research on the study of the social determinants of health, combining knowledge of public health, epidemiology and social sciences. Her current research interests include the study of the cardiovascular and psychosocial health in young people. She published several articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and is responsible for supervision of master and doctoral students.
