Ana Henriques was born in Entroncamento in 1985. In 2008, she obtained her Master in Psychology (Clinical and Health) with the thesis “Design, implementation and evaluation of an intervention program in a group of obese patients after placement of gastric band”. She started as a research fellow at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Predictive Medicine and Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, between 2009 and 2010, when she gained field work experience in population-based cohorts. She is a Doctor in Public Health since July 2015 when she finished her PhD thesis entitled "A biopsychosocial approach to the interrelation between reproduction and excessive weight in women".
She is a post-doc researcher in Social Epidemiology since 2016, and her main research interests are focused on social inequalities in physical and psychological health during adulthood, with particular emphasis on healthy ageing, obesity and cardiovascular diseases, and to understand the impact of constructs such as body image, social capital and social support.
