Sónia Fraga

Sónia Fraga graduated in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) in 1998 and earned her PhD degree in Human Biology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) in 2006. Her doctoral and postdoctoral research was in the field of the regulation of epithelial transport and electrolyte balance in health and disease. Between 2006 and 2009, she held a position of Invited Teaching Assistant at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP). In July 2009, she was hired as an Investigator (Ciência 2008 Programme) of REQUIMTE and joined the Laboratory of Toxicology, FFUP, for five years. Since then, her main research interests and activities focused on the understanding of the relationship between manufactured nanomaterials physicochemical properties, dose and biological effects using in vitro and in vivo models, and the development of novel approaches to predict nanomaterials toxicity. Since May 2015, she holds a postdoctoral fellowship in the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP), working at the Environmental and Laboratory Epidemiology group.
