Shirin Shahriari holds a BSc in Statistics from Allameh Tabatabai university and an MSc in Statistics from Azad university, Tehran North branch, both in Iran. She finished her Ph.D. in applied mathematics (in the area of statistics) with the thesis “Variable selection in linear regression models with large number of predictors“ at the university of Minho (Dec. 2014). During 2010-2014, she was a research fellow at the centre of mathematics (CMAT), department of mathematics, university of Minho. She was also a research fellow at the centre for research & development in mathematics and applications (CIDMA), department of mathematics, university of Aveiro. She was awarded the best poster award at joint meeting of y-BIS–International Young Business and Industrial Statisticians and JSPE in 2012. She was a visiting scholar at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U. Leuven), Belgium (Jan. 2014 - Apr. 2014).
Currently, she is a post-doctoral researcher at the ISPUP and her research involves analysing large amounts of clinical data for statistical modelling.
