Reference:  NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000003 - Diabetes & obesity at the crossroads between Oncological and Cardiovascular diseases – a system analysis NETwork towards precision medicine (DOCnet)


Admission requirements: 

The successful candidate should have a Degree in Sociology, Anthropology or related field and a PhD in Social Sciences, Bioethics or Health Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in qualitative data research and knowledge on ethical rules concerning biosocial data, extend of consent and data protection. The initiative and critical thinking will also be taken into account in evaluating candidates. Excellent reading, writing and comprehension skills in English and Portuguese are mandatory.


Activity Outline: 

The researcher will lead the development of a qualitative study using a set of focus groups involving major stakeholders, regarding relevant challenges on data protection issues, record linkage and using of biosocial data, obtaining information on their expectations and fears. Tasks include designing the study protocol, managing and analysis of qualitative data and production of scientific papers.

Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, Portugal.



The initial duration of the position is 12 months, with a predicted starting date of July 2017, and a possible extension up to the end of the project. The financial aspects are outlined in the budget allowance of the project, which assigns a salary of 2027.88 per month (adding the food allowance).


Selection criteria:

The selection methods are curriculum evaluation (50%) and interview (50%). There will be a pre-selection based on curriculum evaluation, the best ranked candidates will be summoned to the interviews.
