The project will respond to local needs, as well as national and European strategic priorities, contributing for the development of a model of co-production of health. A mixed-methods study will be carried out, relying on questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with informal carers of stroke survivors, and deploying three think tanks with all stakeholders (stroke survivors, carers, researchers, and health and social care professionals). MINUTE OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE SELECTION PANEL TO HIRE A POST-DOC RESEARCHER (WORK CONTRACT WITH NON-FIXED TERM) UNDER THE PROJECT CARESS - PSYCHOSOCIAL HEALTH OF CARERS OF STROKE SURVIVORS: EXPERIENCES, NEEDS, AND QUALITY OF LIFE. (AAC Nº 02/SAICT/2017 - PROJETO Nº 031898), FUNDED BY THE PORTUGUESE FOUNDATION FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (FCT/OE) ((POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031898)) AND BY OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR COMPETITIVENESS AND INTERNATIONALISATION PROMOTED BY THE EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND (FEDER/FNR).

On the 3rd of January 2019, the selection panel composed by Elisabete Alves, Cláudia de Freitas, and Ana Henriques met at Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto to define the selection criteria for the position detailed above. The panel decided to establish two selection phases:

  1. Compliance with the admission requirements defined in the call for applications, namely:

Delivery of all the documents requested;

PhD in the field of Public Health or Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology or a related field);

Good track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals;

Experience with conducting qualitative and mixed-methods studies;

Participation in scientific research projects and experience with data collection in health settings;

Fluency in English and Portuguese, written and spoken.

Inability to comply with the above mentioned requirements will be considered reason for exclusion of the candidates from the next selection phase.

Sorting of candidates who fulfilled the admission requirements set in the previous phase, on the basis of the following formula:

Final classification (FC) = [Curriculum Evaluation (CE) x 0.9] + [Interview (I) x 0.1]

Concerning the CE, the panel decided to assess the candidate’s professional experience and to grade it on a scale of 0 to 20 points distributed in the following way:

  1. Experience in the design and planning of qualitative and quantitative research studies (0-5 points);
  2. Specific knowledge for the theme of the Project (0-4 points);
  3. Track record of international publications in peer-review journals in terms of number and quality (0-4 points);
  4. Participation in scientific research projects (0-3 points);
  5. Background in integrating multi and interdisciplinary teams of researchers (0-2 points)
  6. Proficiency in English and Portuguese, written and spoken (0-2 points).

Concerning the interview (I), the panel decided that the classification to be awarded will result from the simple arithmetic mean of the classifications awarded by each member of the selection board, taking into account the qualities and aptitudes revealed by the candidates in the course of the interview, measured by the following weighting factors:

  1. Professional knowledge and skills to accomplish the work plan (0 to 9 points);
  2. Motivation towards the research project (0 to 4 points);
  3. Communication skills (0 to 4 points);
  4. Professional attitude (0 to 3 points).

The panel decided that only the candidates reaching 10 points (half of the total score) on the CE will be called for the interview. The first five candidates WHO ranked half of the total score or more on the CE will be pre-selected for the interview.

Each member of the selection committee will rank the candidates; the final result will be the arithmetic mean of the classifications assigned individually by each member of the panel.

The candidate with the highest classification will be selected.

The minutes with the final classification will be available to the candidates. The minutes will be posted on the Institute for the period determined in a public notice.
