Description: A research fellowship is available within the framework of the project “How childhood social adversity shapes health: The biology of social adversity (PTDC/DTP-EPI/1687/2014), (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016838)” funded by FEDER through the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Internationalization and national funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology – FCT (Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education).

 

Scientific area: Health Sciences

 

Admission requirements: Applicants must have a Master degree in Health Sciences or Biostatistics or Bioinformatics or Statistics or equivalent areas. Training and experience in statistics analyses is required. Computer programming skills in R and STATA are essential.

Experience in longitudinal analysis and with biological datasets will be appreciated and valued.

 

Activity outline: The successful applicant will work in close interaction with the research team and will be responsible for the statistical analyses.

 

Legislation and regulations: Law Nº. 40/2004, from August 18th (Research Grant Holder Statute), republished in the law no. 202/2012 of 27th August (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/estatutobolseiro) and Regulation Research Grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology 2015 (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml).

 

Work place: Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Silvia Fraga.

 

Duration and Stipend: The initial duration of the position is 12 months, with a predicted starting date of June 2017, and a possible extension up to 24 months, if does not exceed the end date of the project scheduled for 15 May 2019.

 

Value of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €980 (free of taxs), according to the table of grants values ​​of FCT in the country (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

 

Selection methods: There will be a pre-selection based on ranking by curriculum evaluation of the eligible candidates, being summoned to interview the selected candidates.

MINUTE OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE JURY FOR THE SELECTION PROCESS OF ONE POSITION AVAILABLE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PROJECT “HOW CHILDHOOD SOCIAL ADVERSITY SHAPES HEALTH: THE BIOLOGY OF SOCIAL ADVERSITY (PTDC/DTP-EPI/1687/2014), (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016838)” FUNDED BY FEDER THROUGH THE OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME COMPETITIVENESS AND INTERNATIONALIZATION AND NATIONAL FUNDING FROM THE FOUNDATION FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY – FCT (PORTUGUESE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND HIGHER EDUCATION).

 

On June 5th 2017 the selection Jury met at the Institute of Public Health University of Porto to define the evaluation criteria for the selection process of one position, to be hired within the research activities of the project “How childhood social adversity shapes health: the biology of social adversity (PTDC/DTP-EPI/1687/2014), (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016838)” funded by FEDER through the operational programme competitiveness and internationalization and national funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology – FCT (Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education). All members of the Jury participated and the meeting was chaired by Doctor Sílvia Fraga.

 

The Jury agreed to establish two phases for evaluation consisting in:

 

 1) Verification of compliance with the admission requirements as establish at the announcement:

          -  Presentation of the required documentation;

         - Adequacy of the academic requirements: Master degree in Health Sciences or Biostatistics or Bioinformatics or Statistics or equivalent areas;

 

Non-compliance of the above requirements will be deemed cause for disqualification of candidates to the next phase.

 

         A) Ranking of candidates that met the requirements of the previous phase, on the basis of the Curriculum Assessment (CA) 0 to 20 points, sum of the scores on the criteria below:

  • Training and experience in statistics analyses (0 to 10 points);
  • Computer programming skills in R and STATA (0 to 4 points);
  • Experience in longitudinal analysis and with biological datasets (0 to 6 points);

 

Only candidates with more than 10 points in the CA evaluation will be considered for interview. The candidates with the highest score in each area will be invited for the interview until a maximum of three.

 

          B) Interview (I) 0 to 20 points, sum of the scores on the criteria below:

  • Professional Attitude (0 to 5 points);
  • Intellectual Skills (0 to 5 points);
  • Communication Skills (0 to 5 points);
  • Professional Skills (0 to 5 points);

 

The score for the interview will be the arithmetic average of the marks obtained by each individual member of the Jury.

 

The final ranking will be obtained according to the following formula: FC (Final Classification) = [CA (Curriculum Assessment) + I (Interview)] / 2

 

There being no further issues to discuss, the meeting was adjourned, from which these minutes were drawn up, which, for their entire faith and validity, will be signed by all members of the Selection Jury.
