Description: A position is available within the framework of the project “RECAP – Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm (H2020-SCI-2016-2017/H2020-SCI-2016-DTD)” funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

 

Scientific area: Health Sciences

 

Admission requirements: The successful candidate should preferentially have a Master degree in Global Health or Public Health, with a graduation score equal or greater than 16 points out off 20; experience in European research projects; experience in research on public policies, preferentially in European Union childhood care and education; experience in research in healthcare access; experience and training in statistical analyses and scientific writing is required. Provide information on published scientific papers in peer-review journals and oral communications within the areas above. The initiative and critical thinking will also be taken into account in evaluating candidates.

 

Activity outline: The successful applicant will be part of the research team. He/she will be responsible for management of databases, statistical analyses and writing scientific reports. The researcher will be responsible for carrying out qualitative and quantitative studies in cohorts of very preterm children. Tasks include the design of study protocols, the conduct of interviews with participants and key actors involved in the management of the cohorts, analysis of data and production of scientific papers.

Duration and Stipend: The duration of the position is 12 months.

 

Value of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €980 (free of taxes), according to the table of grants values of FCT in the country (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

 

Selection methods: The main selection method to be used will be the curricular evaluation. If it is deemed necessary, an interview will be held at the maximum of the 2 candidates with the highest mark.

MINUTES OF THE FIRST MEETING OF THE JURY FOR THE SELECTION PROCESS OF ONE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP WITHIN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT

“RECAP – Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm (H2020-SCI-2016-2017/H2020-SCI-2016-DTD)”

 

On 2nd January 2018 the selection Jury (Henrique Barros, Ana Cristina Santos and Sílvia Fraga) of the above mentioned Research Grant position within the activities of the project “RECAP – Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm” (H2020-SCI-2016-2017/H2020-SCI-2016-DTD), funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, met in order to define the selection process criteria.

 

The Jury decided to establish three selection phases:

 

1. Compliance with the admission requirements, as defined in the announcement.

a. Existence of all documents required (Curriculum vitae, academic degree certification, motivation letter and scientific paper as the first author)

b. Academic and professional requirements

 

Candidates will be disqualified if one of the mentioned above criteria (a. and/or b.) is not met.

 

2. Curriculum vitae evaluation (CE) - maximum score of 20 points as the sum of each criterion:

a. Experience in European research projects (maximum 5 points)

b. Experience in research on public policies, preferentially in European Union childhood care and education (maximum 3 points)

c. Master degree in Global Health or Public Health (maximum 5 points)

d. Experience and training in statistical analyses (maximum 3 points)

e. Experience in scientific writing (maximum 2 points)

f. Ability to speak and write in English at working level (maximum 2 points)

 

3. Interview (I) – maximum score of 20 points

 

If it is deemed necessary, only candidates with more than ten points in the CE evaluation will be considered for an interview. The candidates with the highest score will be invited for the interview up to a maximum of two.

The interview score will be the sum of each criterion:

  1. Ability to describe previous work on the requested areas (0 to 4 points);
  2. Ability to demonstrate knowledge on the requested fields (0 to 4 points);
  3. Good use of scientific terminologies (0 to 4 points);
  4. Ability to conceptualize strategies to deal with real problems (0 to 4 points);
  5. Good interpersonal/communication skills (0 to 4 points).

 

Each member of the Jury will score the candidate; final interview classification will be the result of the arithmetic average of the Jury scores.

MINUTES OF THE SECOND MEETING OF THE JURY FOR THE SELECTION PROCESS OF ONE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP WITHIN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT

“RECAP – Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm (H2020-SCI-2016-2017/H2020-SCI-2016-DTD)”

 

On the 3rd of January 2018, the selection Jury (Henrique Barros, Ana Cristina Santos and Sílvia Fraga) of the above mentioned Research Grant position met in order to classify the Curriculum vitae of the candidates, according to the previously defined criteria.

Four candidates applied for this position. After analysis of the documentation, including the academic eligibility requirement, 2 candidates were excluded because: a) not all required documents were present (scientific paper as the first author).

Also, as it was considered in the first Minutes of this selection process, only candidates with more than ten points in the Curriculum vitae evaluation would be considered for an interview.
