One position, as research technician, is available within the scientific area Public Health Sciences at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, within the project Migrants and Perinatal Health: Barriers, Incentives and Outcomes (Refª. PTDC/DTP-SAP/6384/2014), which is financed by FEDER fund through “Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização promovido pelo FEDER e por Fundos Nacionais através da FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia”.

Academic and professional requirements:

  • Degree in Health Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, International Affairs
  • Training in conducting interviews


It will be appreciated:

  • To speak English and/or French and/or Italian and/or Mandarin and/or Russian and/or Ukrainian and/or Romanian and/or Hindi and/or Bengali and/or Nepali language.
  • Training in epidemiologic research
  • Availability to travel in Portugal.


Activity outline:

The fellow will be responsible:

  • To interview the migrant and native mothers (5 to 7 interviews per day),
  • To follow the recruitment process in public maternity units.
  • Working time: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
  • Work shifts could include work during evenings, Saturdays or Sundays.

Duration and Stipend:

The grant will have a duration of 8 months, with an expected starting date in October 2017. Financial aspects are in accordance with the FCT regulations (, which assigns a tax-free stipend of 745€ per month.

Evaluation criteria and process:

Curricular evaluation of all eligible candidates + interview (possibly by videoconference) with a maximum of three candidates. The final results of the evaluation will be posted in ISPUP’s website (
