COVID-19: U.Porto will test all students and workers for SARS-CoV-2

With the support of ISPUP, the screening of the academic community for SARS-CoV-2 starts during the week of April 12th and aims to anticipate the return to classroom activity set for April 19th. Testing will be voluntary.

The Universidade do Porto will implement, from the 12th of April, a screening program for SARS-CoV-2 infection among students and workers of the institution, anticipating the return of face-to-face activities scheduled for the 19th of April.

Over the next few days, all members of the academic community will receive an email in their institutional mailbox with information on how to schedule their diagnostic test in one of the 10 testing centres that U.Porto will set up across the different poles of the university, with the support of ISPUP, the Escolas de Ciências da Saúde and the Portuguese Red Cross.

The test is voluntary but can only be performed at the designated location and with prior registration.

Following the recommendations of the Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior, the screening of the academic community of U.Porto will be performed through rapid antigen testing (TRAg) for SARS-CoV-2, with nasopharyngeal samples obtained using a swab.

The results will be sent via email about 30 minutes after the test.
