Public Health in the Built Environment

The Public Health Institute of the University of Porto within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the approved application “Platform For a Global Health – Qualification of Human Health Resources”, coordinated by the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North in the context of the WARNING N.º 01/PRR/2021 – Youth Impulse Program STEAM and Adult Impulse Program, presents below the advanced course on the topic: Public Health in the Built Environment

Obs.:Free course, but limited to 40 places, which will be occupied in order of registration; It is mandatory to submit an academic qualification certificate and/or proof of professional experience in the areas of Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering and Clinical Analysis

1. Be able to identify symptoms and diseases associated with exposure in the built environment;

2. Know the legal limits for the physical and chemical parameters of indoor air quality (IAQ);

3. Understand how to evaluate comfort parameters of interior spaces, as well as the IAQ;

4. Familiarize yourself with IQ measurement reports and know how to identify non-conforming parameters;

5. Understand how the characteristics of the buildings to be evaluated and the behavior of the occupants can influence health in the built environment;

6. Prepare a risk report based on an assessment of the building, linking the occupants' signs and symptoms to possible etiological agents (case simulation).

The course is aimed at professionals in the areas of Medicine, Public Health, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering and Clinical Analysis.
