ISPUP researcher elected member of the EUROTOX Executive Committee

João Paulo Teixeira, the coordinator of ISPUP´s Environmental and Laboratorial Epidemiology Research Group, and an integrated member of the Institute’s Epidemiology Research Unit (EPIUnit), has been elected a member of the Executive Committee of EUROTOX. This is the largest organization of toxicologists and European toxicology societies, which represents around 6,000 members across Europe and over 200 individual members worldwide.

The researcher said he felt “honoured by the election” that took place last September 10th in Helsinki. “The challenges are very large given the key role that EUROTOX has as a central body in shaping scientific policies and regulatory frameworks in Europe”, he said.

“With this new direction, we will continue to consolidate the long road that EUROTOX has taken since its inception in 1962 by establishing itself as the voice of European associations, by stimulating and supporting integrated strategies for the promotion of global health”.

As a member of the EUROTOX executive committee, João Paulo Teixeira also takes over the coordination of the Toxicology section of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology (SPF) and is the Vice-President of the Portuguese Society of Toxicology (APTox).
