ISPUP researchers awarded Gold Medals for their role in Portuguese response to the pandemic

Researchers Henrique Barros, Raquel Duarte, and Milton Severo, from the Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP), were awarded this Wednesday, March 9, with the Gold Medals of Distinguished Services by the Ministry of Health, in recognition of their services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The award ceremony, which took place at Infarmed and was attended by the Portuguese Minister of Health Marta Temido, responsible for awarding the medals, distinguished the technical advice provided to the Ministry of Health by ISPUP researchers and other experts in the fields of epidemiology and public health.

Throughout the more than two years of this pandemic, the Ministry of Health sought to hear experts from various areas of knowledge, so that the response measures to COVID-19 were supported by the best scientific advice and evidence.
