Kick-off meeting of European project that aims to modernise toxicology education

The kick-off meeting of the European project “Toxicology Innovative Learning for Europe” (ToxLearn4EU), which aims to modernise education in Toxicology and other related areas, was held on 23 and 24 February, in Rome (Italy).

Researchers Carla Costa and Solange Costa from the Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP) attended the meeting.

The ToxLearn4EU project, of which ISPUP is a partner, intends to modernise education in Toxicology and other related areas, through the development of innovative educational content, such as interactive courses and case studies, which will be available online and with free access. The main goal is to produce quality digital education on current topics in this field of Health Sciences.

The project, funded by the European program ERASMUS +, comprises a consortium of seven Higher Education Institutes, three Research Institutes and several laboratories from all over Europe, under the coordination of the University of Toulouse, with ISPUP being the only Portuguese partner.

“By promoting European strategic cooperation in the field of education and training, the project will be a unique opportunity to encourage students’ interest in the field of Toxicology, Public Health, and the Environment, through the use of active teaching tools,” say the ISPUP researchers involved in the project.

“At the same time, it will contribute to support the development of skills adapted to the emerging labour market, recommended by the programmes and strategic axes of action defined by the European Commission, such as the Green Deal and Horizon Europe,” they conclude.
