Cognitive Impairment in Diseases Involving the Nervous System

The general goal of this laboratory is to study the trajectories of cognitive impairment in models of relevant diseases involving the nervous system, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke, as well as cancer and other systemic or infectious diseases that indirectly target the nervous system.

The research is oriented towards characterising the clinical epidemiology of cognitive impairment in the population, identifying specific patterns of early stage cognitive impairment, as well as developing clinical and technological tools to identify and monitor cognitive impairment at the community level, study the modulation of patient itineraries between different levels of care, and evaluate interventions to prevent further cognitive impairment in high risk groups.
