Pregnancy and early childhood impact physical and emotional health all the way into adulthood, but the first 1000 days of life are especially crucial.

This laboratory focuses on understanding the risk factors surrounding perinatal health, including reproduction. There is also a particular interest in prematurity and the role of social inequalities in the life course, bringing together biological, demographic, social and behavioural determinants, and their impact on healthcare utilisation.

The group aims to create knowledge regarding methodological challenges and determinants of health, and to evaluate interventions that can contribute to giving every child the best start in life. Similarly, it aims to understand how growth and development are shaped.
