Ana Fernandes

Degree in Pathology, Cytology, and Thanatology (School of Health – Polytechnic of Porto, 2014). She worked as a biomedical scientist in several laboratories between 2014 and 2022 and as an invited assistant at the School of Health between 2019 and 2022, teaching Cell Biology and Histology. Currently, she is working on the European project CBIG-SCREEN – A collaborative approach to cervical cancer screening, which aims, through the joint work with different stakeholders involved in cervical cancer screening, to develop strategies to increase adherence to screening by potentially underscreened women, reducing inequality in its access and use. She integrates the “Cancer Epidemiology” laboratory in the ITR – Patient and Population Outcomes Research. She is also developing her Master’s thesis in Health Education at the Faculty of Medicine (FMUP) and the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) on cervical cancer prevention and control by potentially underscreened groups of women.
