Maria João Vidal Alves is a psychologist in the Psychological Consultation Service and a senior technician at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and is currently completing her PhD in Forensic Sciences at the University of Murcia, Spain. She holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Sciences, a postgraduate degree in Forensic Medicine from FMUP, a specialization in Gender Equality from ISMAI, and has completed training as a facilitator of parenting groups/parental training and child abuse prevention.
She is the author of publications in high impact scientific journals and chapters in national books in the areas of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and violence in the workplace.
She is also an integrated researcher at ISPUP. She has experience as a visiting assistant in courses at FMUP and IUCS-CESPU, as well as at the Portuguese Catholic University, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of UP (FPCEUP).
