Micaela Machado Querido has a Degree in Biomedical Sciences by University of Beira Interior (2014). In 2016 she concluded her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering by Faculty of Engineering at University of Porto. In her Master thesis, performed at I3s, the main goal was to develop a coating with antimicrobial properties bot e applied in central venous catheters in order to avoid infections. In 2017, Micaela started working at Instituto Nacional de Saúde Dr. Ricardo Jorge, Porto with a fellowship and later was awarded with a PhD fellowship by FCT. In 2018 she initiated her PhD in Biomedical Sciences by Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, having as main host institution INSA and integrating ISPUP. Nowadays, she integrates the Air Pollution & Health Laboratory coordenated by Professor João Paulo Teixeira at ITR. In her PhD project, Micaela has as main goals develop and validate self-disinfecting paints to be applied in public areas with high propensity for infection spreading and evaluate potential toxicity of these paints.
