Sophia Hiba is from Morocco and she is a Pharmacist. Sophia have always been passionate about the field of health and its application to humanity, and as such, she have aspired to progress in this area through two different masters. A Master in Health Services Management from Griffith University (Australia) and a Master in Public Health from ISPUP (Portugal).
Her Master thesis in Public Health focused on “Individual & contextual factors of depression among older Europeans” under the supervision of Professor Teresa Leão, they studied the effect of several individual and contextual risk factors in 302,613 participants aged 50 or over who participated in the sixth wave (2015) of the survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe. This study enlightens the importance of the individual (endogenous, exogenous) and contextual factors as the main drivers of depression in European older adults.
Sophia desires to add value towards Public Health systems and contribute towards the build of an efficient health system, which guarantees equal access and treatment to people from all walks of life.
