Micaela Machado Querido as a bachelor degree on Biomedical Sciences (Universidade da Beira Interior, 2014) and a Master Degree on Biomedical Engineering (Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, 2016). Her master thesis “Prevention of intravascular catheter-related infections” was performed at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB)/ Institute for Research and Innovation in Health Sciences (I3s) under the supervision of Dr. M. Cristina L. Martins and Dr. Lino Ferreira.
Currently she is doing her PhD on Biomedical Sciences at ICBAS, University of Porto under the supervision of Dr. Cristiana Costa Pereira and Dr. João Paulo Teixiera, being her host institution the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge.
Micaela has been working with materials and biomaterials with antimicrobial properties. Materials development, surface characterization, antimicrobial activity testing and citotoxicity and genotoxicity testing are some tasks she has experience in. On her PhD project the main goal is to develop a paint with antimicrobial properties.
