Cosima Lisi is graduated in Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome.  When she was a medical student, she participated in several university extension projects on migrant health, during which she developed a special interest in migration medicine. She always had a global approach to health, considering the importance of taking into account not only the biological, but also economic, social, political and environmental determinants of diseases. As part of the work for her master's thesis, she also explored the topic of conflict of interests in public health, which sets economic interests against the right to health. She also participated in the organization of courses on global health and equity in health, at Sapienza University of Rome.

She is currently a PhD student in the Doctoral Program in Global Public Health at the University of Porto, with a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology (Ref.PD/BD /128082/2016) and a member of the research group on Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology (EPIUnit) of the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto.

She carries on a project a research project that aims to assess the influence of breastmilk substitutes industry marketing on infant feeding among native and migrant women, through the use of quantitative and qualitative methods.
