Ana López Cheda
Ana López-Cheda obtained the degree of Computer Engineering at the University of A Coruña (UDC) in 2012. After that, she started the Interuniversity Master's degree in Statistical Techniques at UDC, University of Santiago (USC) and University of Vigo (UVigo), and she defended the final project in 2014. Then, Ana López-Cheda started her thesis in the Interuniversity PhD Program of Statistics and Operational Research at UDC, USC and UVigo. The thesis defense was held in 2018, and she obtained the qualification of Excellent with a distinction "Summa cum laude".
Her work has been, mainly, associated with survival analysis. Specifically, her PhD was focused on nonparametric inference in mixture cure models. Furthermore, during the development of her thesis, Ana López-Cheda spent three research stays in top research centres in the field: a three month stay and a two-month stay at the Université catholique de Louvain, in Louvain la-Neuve (Belgium), with Prof. Ingrid Van Keilegom, and a one-month stay at the Division of Cancer Care and Epidemiology, in the Cancer Research Institute at Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario (Canada), with Prof. Yingwei Peng.
Furthermore, Ana López-Cheda earned three awards related to her research: "Best poster communication" in the conference "II Edición Investigación Biomédica del Cáncer en Galicia" (IBCG 2015), "Best oral communication related to an application to Health Sciences presented by a young researcher" in the conference "II Encontro Galaico Portugués de Biometría con aplicación ás Ciencias da Saúde, á Ecoloxía e ás Ciencias do Medio Ambiente" (BIOAPP 2016), and "Award to the best communication" in the conference "I Congreso XoveTIC" (XoveTIC 2018).
