Ana Isabel Ribeiro

Ana Isabel Ribeiro is an epidemiologist and health geographer. She was born in Porto in 1988. In 2008, she finished a BS in Geography, in 2010 a Master in Public Health, and in 2016 a PhD in Public Health at University of Porto with a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.

 

She is a Researcher at the Public Health Institute of the University of Porto (CEECIND/ 02386/2018) and Principal Investigator in the project 'EXALAR 21: The influence of exposure to urban air pollutants, green and blue spaces, and biodiversity on the development of allergic diseases and asthma in children'.

 

Ana has authored and co-authored dozens of scientific papers, reports and communications. She is particularly interested in understanding how the social and biogeophysical context where individuals live influence their health and well-being and on emerging health risks such as climate change and environmental degradation.

 

At the same time, she is involved in several training activities being responsible for the supervision of master and doctoral students and for the curricular units of Demography and Geographical Information Systems in the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health Institute of University of Porto. Since 2019, she is an Associate Editor of the BMC Journal Public Health Reviews.
