Rita Gaio holds a first degree in Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), an MSc in Applied Mathematics from the same institution and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, England. Since 2000, she has been an assistant professor at the Mathematics Department, FCUP, and na integrated member of the Centre of Mathematics of the University of Porto (CMUP). Academicwise, and apart from the teaching at FCUP, she has also taught several graduate and post-graduate courses at the University of Porto, namely at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Institute of Public Health (ISPUP). Her scientific interests are within the areas of Statistical Learning (regression, classification, finite mixture models and clustering) and Statistical Modelling within the Life Sciences. Apart from several scientific publications in national and international peer-reviewed jornal, she has also a large experience in consulting.
