Ana Rute Costa graduated in Psychology (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto), and obtained a Master Degree in Epidemiology [University of Porto Medical School (FMUP)] with the thesis “Prevalence and main determinants of preschool sleep disorders in a Portuguese birth cohort”. She started her professional activity, in 2006, as a research fellow, at the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology – FMUP. She completed her PhD in Public Health (FMUP, 2020) with the thesis “Healthcare use among cancer patients and their partners in different phases of the cancer pathway” (SFRH/BD/102181/2014). She is currently a research fellow within the project “FEEDcities – Food Environment Description in cities from Central Asia and Eastern European countries”. She has co-supervised three Master dissertations, and is currently a supervisor of two Master dissertations in Health Education. She also a member of the Non-Communicable Diseases Epidemiology research group, within the Epidemiology Research Unit of the Institute of Public Health – University of Porto (EPIUnit-ISPUP).
