Pérez-Cabezas, Begoña was graduated in Biology in 2007 and got a PhD in Immunology in 2011, both at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (ES).
From 2012, she focused on the study of the modulation of the host immune system by pathogens, especially protozoan parasites, with a main focus on Leishmania infantum, the etiological agent of canine leishmaniosis in Europe.
Her work includes basic and translational studies (pre-clinical trials for drug and vaccine testing), and was developed in different Portuguese research institutions.
Currently, she is the program officer of the One Health initiative at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS) of University of Porto, and is interested in continuing to develop research in the One Health topic.
