The Speaker is Filipa Alves da Costa, World Health Organization

Filipa Alves da Costa is a pharmacist, specialized in public health and health policy, working for the Health In Prisons Programme (HIPP), part of the division Alcohol, Illicit Drugs & Prison Health Programme, at the World Health Organization, Regional Office for Europe. As technical lead for WHO-HIPP since 2020, Dr. Alves da Costa has led the development of a surveillance system for COVID-19 in prisons, triggering response at country level; the WHO prison framework to evaluate performance of prison health systems, the advocacy brief calling for the inclusion of people living and working in prisons in national vaccination plans, the policy brief “Addressing the NCD burden in prison” and “Organizational models of prisons health: considerations for better governance”. Beyond her work at WHO, Filipa is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon.

Research Associate at Research Institute for Medicines (iMED), Interdisciplinary Center Egas Moniz (CiiEM) and Epidemiology Unit of Portuguese Cancer Institute Lisboa. She is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Education and Frontiers in Pharmacology. Vice-President of the Social and Administrative Pharmacy Section of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP); Executive Member of the International Society for Medication Adherence (ESPACOMP); Honorary Member of Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) and Fellow of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP).  ORCID: 0000-0003-0562-2514; Scopus Author ID: 8921304200
