Georges Hatem

Georges Hatem is a PharmD, Ph.D. student in public health at the University of Porto, Faculty of Medicine.

He is also a junior researcher in the Clinical and Epidemiological Research Laboratory (Faculty of Pharmacy, Lebanese University).

He has laboratory experience at the national museum of natural history in Paris.

Georges has presented at local, national, and international conferences on generic drug prescription in Lebanon, barriers to access to continuing education among pharmacists, and the health-related quality of life of populations.

He was involved in several epidemiological and clinical studies such as cancer control, drug prescription during the COVID-19 pandemic, alopecia, and outcomes of hospitalized COVID patients taking corticosteroids.

In October 2021, Georges joined the Genetic, Behavioural, and Environmental Determinants of Health and Disease Line (Air Pollution and Health Laboratory; Fellowship 2022.11261.BD), tackling schoolchildren’s exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals following school modernization and associated respiratory and cognitive burdens. His work under the scientific guidance of researcher Joana Madureira is carried out at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP) and the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge, IP (INSA, IP).
