World AIDS Day

The World AIDS Day is celebrated annualy, on december first, since 1988.

World AIDS Day brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote international solidarity, and celebrate progress, such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.

This year’s theme is “Take the rights path” reinforcing that if everyone’s rights are protected, we can end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. When people feel safe and respected, they are more likely to seek the care they need. However, gaps in the realization of human rights continue to hinder global efforts, emphasizing the urgent need to end stigma, discrimination, and inequities.

At ISPUP, as we recognize this public health challenge, we conduct research focused on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and, alongside the Municipality of Porto, we are part the Fast-Track Cities strategy, working to ensure no one is left behind.

Ending AIDS requires that we reach and engage everyone.

Together, with human rights at the center and communities leading the way, we can #EndAIDS.
