The Public Health Institute of the University of Porto within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the approved application “Platform For a Global Health – Qualification of Human Health Resources”, coordinated by the Polytechnic Institute of Health of the North in the context of the WARNING N.º 01/PRR/2021 – Youth Impulse Program STEAM and Adult Impulse Program, presents below the advanced course on the topic: Measuring Healthcare Quality and Safety: the importance of designing and understanding indicators.
Saturdays (all day): from 9:00 to 18:00
B-learning format (online in the 1st session and face-to-face in the 2nd and 3rd sessions).
Course addressed to:
- adults over 23 years old;
- residents in the national territory at the time of the actions of which they are beneficiaries.
Obs.:Free course, but limited to 50 places, which will be occupied in order of registration; ATTENTION: Mandatory submission in the application form, in the field "Annex" of the pdf with the certificate of academic qualification or proof of professional experience identifying the role in the health sector. *Professional proof must be issued in the current year
- Understand the role of indicators in improving the quality of care;
- Understand the main attributes of valid and reliable health measures, recognising different data sources and understanding the challenges in obtaining high quality data;
- Understand the process of choosing indicators in different contexts and which epidemiological metrics are most suitable for measuring quality of care.
The course is intended for professionals working in the health field.
It is particularly relevant for those who have an interest or role in the process of improving the quality of care and safety (doctors, nurses, managers), both in public and private institutions and at different levels of health care.
*Applicants must submit a certificate of academic qualification or proof of professional experience identifying the role in the health sector. Professional proof must be issued in the current year.
