Abstract:

In Europe, the health of asylum seekers and refugees has been a growing source of concern. The adversities entailed by forced migration and resettlement can severely impact adult and children physical and mental health.
Based on the RESPOND project – a cross-sectional, population-based assessment of asylum seekers, refugees and their children living in reception centres and regional accommodation centres in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany – we will present recent findings about factors associated with mental health outcomes and healthcare utilisation in this vulnerable group.
