Joana Pires

In 2018, obtained a degree in Applied Biology at the School of Sciences of the University of Minho (ECUM). She is currently attending the master´s degree in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology at the University of Porto (UP). As a research fellow, integrated the project “NanoBioBarriers: Unravelling the mechanisms underlying the effects of metal-based nanoparticles on biological barriers – a contribution towards the implementation of the safe-by-design concept” (PTDC/MED-TOX/31162/2017 – POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031162). Currently, also as a research fellow, participate of the project “BioFirEx – A panel of (bio)markers for the surveillance of firefighter’s health and safety” PCIF/SSO/0017/2018, at the Environmental Health Department of the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
