Priscilla Gomes da Silva

Priscilla Gomes da Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Genetics & Biotechnology from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Manaus, Brazil. She holds a master’s degree in Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience & Human Biology from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary, from which she graduated with honors as top of her class. She has experience in research in the areas of immunology and molecular virology of infectious diseases, having previously worked in the National Reference Laboratory for Viral Zoonosis from the National Center of Epidemiology of Hungary, where she developed her master’s thesis research with serological cross-reactivity among flaviviruses such as DENV, ZIKV, YFV, WNV and TBEV.

She is currently a PhD graduate in the Biomedical Sciences program of the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) of Porto University under the supervision of professor PhD. João Rodrigo Mesquita. Her research interests include medical microbiology and immunology, with a focus on immunology, molecular biology and epidemiology of infectious viral diseases.

Her main research activities now are focused on the clinical and molecular virology of SARS-CoV-2, mainly regarding the airborne transmission and molecular monitoring of the virus within Portugal.
