Sofia Carvalho da Costa holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from ESB-UCP (since 2018) and a Master’s in Biotechnology and Innovation from the same institution (since 2021).
Her experience includes an international mobility program in Switzerland, where she completed her undergraduate internship at the Nestlé Research Centre, focusing on Digital Nutrition. Subsequently, for her master’s thesis, she delved into studying the “Profile, Integration, and Perception of Nutritionists in the Agri-Food Industry and Large Food Distribution in Portugal” in collaboration with the Order of Nutritionists.
She also completed her professional internship at the Vila Nova de Gaia City Council, where she worked in Community Nutrition and Public Health.
Currently, she is a doctoral student in the Public Health Doctoral Program at FMUP with a Doctoral Research Scholarship from FCT. She collaborates with ISPUP – the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, and ITR – the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health, within the research line L3 – Genetic, Environmental, and Behavioral Determinants of Health and Health, in the Food Policy Laboratory.
Her main areas of interest include food policy, commercial determinants of health, and corporate political activity. Simultaneously, she collaborates with the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, primarily working on the gamification of nutrition and edutainment.
