The large influx of refugees observed since 2015 has put considerable pressure on asylum systems across the European Union. To produce a humane response to asylum seekers and refugees, safeguard public health and promote integration, asylum systems need to be adjusted to current demands. This project analyses the development of policies aimed at strengthening the Portuguese asylum system as part of a wider European project designed to build up the evidence base to inform policy and to promote knowledge cross-fertilization between Member States.
