Miguel Rocha, MSc, completed his nursing degree in 2008 and specialized in public health nursing in 2014. He is a PhD student at the Institute of Public Health, University of Porto, researching the chemsex scene in Lisbon from 2010 to 2024 and exploring geographical differences in chemsex cultures to catch up with related medical and health contexts across European capital cities by examining its variations in drug use concerns and healthcare utilization among chemsex users. Between 2012 and 2024, while working as a sexual health nurse, public health researcher, and health manager at Grupo de Ativistas em Tratamentos, he co-authored several publications on the dynamics of HIV transmission and HIV prevention options among key populations, employing a community participatory research framework.
