Ana Quaresma
Ana Edra Quaresma is a Senior Cardiac Sonographer at Centro Hospital Universitário de Coimbra, she is an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Superior Institute of Coimbra since 2016  and a PhD student in the Doctoral Program in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, having enrolled in 2019. She graduated in Cardiopneumology in 2004 with the thesis “Haemodialysis vs Peritoneal Dialysis – Most frequent echocardiographic findings”.  She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra since 2010, with the thesis “Cardiac evaluation in the neurological patient – Clinical and therapeutic implications”. She also obtained the Title of Specialist Professor in Cardiopneumology in 2020.

Her field of interest and study has been the Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases, from diagnosis to prevention. Her research work at the moment and within the scope of her doctoral thesis, is part of the relationship between social epidemiology and cardiovascular diseases in Portuguese people with at least 60 years of age; in the form of the assessment of various indicators of social vulnerability and the development of cardiovascular disease.

She is also a member of the Laboratory for Social Adversity and Inequalities in Health at ITR – Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ISPUP).
