Gonçalo Silva
Gonçalo Silva holds a degree in Environmental Health, a Master’s in Public Health, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Occupational Safety and Health. He holds a Pedagogical Skills Certificate (CCP), the professional license of Environmental Health Technician, and the professional title of Senior Occupational Safety Technician (Level VI).
Throughout his professional career, he has worked in various fields, including air and water quality in mainland Portugal, public health at the Entre Douro e Vouga I Health Centers Group, and environmental management at São João University Hospital Center.
He currently serves as the European Representative for Environmental and Occupational Health at the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). Simultaneously, he is a researcher at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP) and the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), a scientific communicator at Cartas com Ciência, and a collaborator with the Portuguese Association of Environmental Health (APSAI).
Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to conduct several training sessions, serve as a scientific jury for oral presentations and scientific posters at international events, act as a scientific reviewer for Wiley publications, and contribute to national and international projects of significance, such as the “Bloco Verde” project and the European Week for Waste Reduction.
He has produced various scientific publications and has completed over 50 specialized trainings in the fields of Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Food Safety, and Occupational Health and Safety, acquired from renowned institutions such as Harvard, WHO, CDC, FMUP, ESS-IPP, ESTES Coimbra, INSA, and IEFP.
He is part of the Indoor Air Quality and Respiratory Health Laboratory (QAISAR) at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP), under the supervision of Dr. João Cavaleiro Rufo.
