Gabriel Kanan is a general practitioner medical doctor, he completed his medical degree at Homs University (2018, Syria) and received his clinical training at Damascus University Hospital and Papageorgiou Hospital (Greece).
He obtained his Masters’s degree in Public health (MPH) from the faculty of Medicine, Porto University (Portugal, 2021). His Thesis was Entitled: ‘’Post-traumatic stress disorders in Syrian children and adolescents: a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence and determinants in different settings’’.
Gabriel is an integrated researcher in the Policy and Health Laboratory of the ITR (Associate Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health) in the Public Health institution at the University of Porto, Portugal.
His research interest focuses on public mental health, vulnerable populations, and improving the public health of minorities and migrants.
