Raquel Mara Teixeira was born in Brazil and graduated in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2003.
In Portugal, she obtained a Master (2017) and a Doctorate degree (2023) in Public Health at the University of Porto. Prior to that, she spent seven years in Sao Tome and Principe, where she served as a representative of the Brazilian government, leading the implementation of the National School Feeding Program and coordinating the South-South Cooperation project portfolio.
From 2017 to 2021, she worked as Research Assistant in the project “RECAP: Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm” (H2020).
She is currently an Associate Researcher in the project “ADVANCE – Addressing mental health vulnerabilities from adolescence to older age: innovating prevention science for times of change” (H2020) and a member of the Laboratory for Public Participation in Health at ITR – Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health.
Her main research interests are food insecurity, vulnerable populations, and the development and implementation of digital solutions for health promotion.
