Ana Henriques obtained her Master in Psychology (Clinical and Health) in 2008 at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto. She is a Doctor in Public Health (Faculty of Medicine, U. Porto) since July 2015 when she finished her PhD thesis entitled “A biopsychosocial approach to the interrelation between reproduction and excessive weight in women”.
Ana Henriques is a Junior Researcher and holds a Scientific Employment Stimulus from FCT since 2019, and a member of the Social Epidemiology group (EPIUnit) and of the Social Adversity and Health Inequalities Lab from the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research (ITR). Her main research interests are focused on social inequalities in physical and psychological health during adulthood, with particular emphasis on healthy ageing. More specifically, she intends to understand the impact of constructs such as social isolation, loneliness and self-rated successful aging in older peoples’ health.
She also supervises doctoral students in Public Health and gives Psychology lectures at Escola Superior de Saúde Santa Maria.
