Tomorrow, April 10th, Generation XXI celebrates the birthday of the first participant in the study to reach the age of 16.
This birth cohort has been monitoring the state of health, growth, and development of over 8,600 participants, who were born in public maternity hospitals of the Metropolitan Area of Porto in 2005/2006, as well as accompanying their families, for almost 16 years.
The aim is to characterise the health state of these individuals throughout their childhood, adolescence, and later on during their adulthood.
It’s intended that the information gathered through the various evaluations be useful for the planning of health intervention strategies and eventually even serve as a Health Observatory.
